Ocarina of Time
Selections
ZREO Legacy’s Ocarina of Time Selections honors our past, and offers a glimpse into our future. The original team launched the first Ocarina of Time album on Christmas Day, 2009. Topping 80 tracks, Ocarina of Time Complete was the first ambitious project the team produced.
Zelda Reorchestrated (ZREO) started in October 2004 by founder and current producer Samuel Ferrara with the goal of producing arrangements and virtual performances of songs from The Legend of Zelda series using professional-grade virtual instruments.
This project would go on to spawn additional projects like Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker, A Link to the Past, and ultimately Twilight Symphony.
In mid-2009, ZREO had finished most of the tracks of Ocarina of Time and made a hard push to finish the entire album. Fresh off the heels of the first appearance as a group at VGXpo in Philadelphia, the team worked to produce the last 22 tracks needed to complete the album.
The overwhelmingly positive response from fans was great for the morale of the team and was certainly rewarding as this project really has been and continues to be a labour of love.
The album reached 6 million downloads in little beyond a week’s time and was reported by Kotaku, MTV Multiplayer, Nintendo Life, Zentendo, Reddit, Destructoid, Joystiq, GoNintendo, Digg, Zelda Universe, LegendOfZelda.com, Hyrule.net, ArmChairDiplomat, Escapist Magazine, CVG, GamerLimit, Vidaextra (ES), among others.
A couple of years ago I met ZREO, Lead Sam Ferrara and developed a quick friendship. We began putting our heads together on production procedure, arrangement supervision, album structuring, etc. and, well -- let's just say the world hasn't seen what the guys can really do yet. They are very --- VERY talented. Not being one of the actual music guys, you'll pardon me if I brag a little about them a little. They are truly a capable group, and most of them aspire to work in video games.

From the producer
Ocarina of Time Selections is the first step towards releasing music from our early days. The work we completed in 2009, while exhaustive and fulfilling, is a snapshot in time. Speaking candidly, this body of work does not represent our talented group of musicians, nor the work we would produce.
From then to now, our personal standards for music have risen. Fan expectations for soundtracks of video game music have risen today as well. We’re privileged with larger budgets for soundtracks from even the smallest game studios. It’s safe to say that VGM fandom has evolved. As fan expectation and studio willingness toward greater game music quality has risen, so has our dedication to our craft.
We will expand our music across the Zelda franchise with an emphasis on real musicians. Something we were missing the first time was the element of human touch. The elegance and grace of live performers. Samples have evolved in the last decade, but there’s no substitute for the soul of a real player.
If I had one wish, it’s that we could start all over with the project and do it with a group of musicians in a concert hall. We’re limited by the cost and time resources it would take to do that, but we’ll never stop trying.
Our newest work Hyrule Field feat. ATLYS features live players, and their talent and emotion are the missing links.

ZREO has always been a passion project, but it’s a passion project that costs real money – historically self-funded.
